Last week, the three police officers from town came out to the station for some morning tea. The boys couldn’t stop talking about them (or making siren noises) once they’d left. Our the freckled frog village, vehicles, road and people were the perfect way to follow up that experience and keep the conversation going. One of my favourite things about these toys is the range of people in the set. It allows for plenty of conversations about roles in the community, diversity, culture and family structures.

Capital letter, lowercase letters and number sort. Using our the freckled frog discs, we had a go at identifying and sorting based on these factors. Sorting the difference between capital letters and lowercase letters was a struggle. Definitely something we will continue to work on.

?Stacking Rainbows! 
The beauty about open ended toys is that there is no limit to how they can be played, meaning it allows the child to play freely with no rules to follow.

Who am i? A little game we did this morning. These flashcards are from the freckled frog and its such a fun little game to match the skin to the animal. If you watched my stories you can have a glimpse of our game we did this morning.

Counting game ? 
A little counting game we have been doing using our the freckled frog flashcards. 
This was particularly with miss 3 just for her to practice some counting and numbers. She has been loving these flash cards. So I challenged her by asking her to find the things thats on the flashcard and the amount. I did only up to 5 since it was a bit easier to start of with. But it really helped her with recognition and counting. Review from Instagram

This thing is so sturdy it could handle 10,000 kids in chunky cheese. This is so rugged a nuclear bomb could land it will still be fine. In all the kids toys I bought I’ve never seen something so rigid. It held and spun an adult that was was over the legal limit. It handled the massive size even cleaned up after the vomitron event. You buy this once and your great great great grandkids will play on it. It’s like those 1980’s playground toys still going strong. When future anthropologists from 1000 years in the future see it. They will be amazed.

These are just great. My kids loved playing find the match and the colours are so nice. Such a great way to learn some of the indigenous symbols. Ours came in a nice little drawstring pouch.

My boys are both having a major dinosaur obsession right now and I’m here for it!…Their favorite toy right now is the the freckled frog happy architect dinosaur set. It fosters so much open ended and imaginative play. The dinosaur pieces are nice and chunky for small hands too!

Happy Litte Architect range. Great for both kids working very much in the Enclosure Schema right now; but, it’s excellent problem solving for the clever kid—who, mostly loses her mind if she doesn’t understand it instantly. It is forcing her to stop and think and problem solve a little more.

The wooden pieces easily slot into each other allowing him to build little scenes all on his own, and then he uses the chunky wooden people and vehicles to role play and act out different scenarios ? As you can see, Elijah is loving his Happy Architect set from @the_freckled_frog! I absolutely love toys like these that allow him to build and create to his hearts content. Once he’s finished building he then uses his little wooden peg people inside the “castle”. I don’t see this being rotated away any time soon!

So when I came across these gorgeous Create N Play wooden discs from @the_freckled_frog, my brain went into overdrive with all the possibilities of the ways these discs could be used! So far we’ve used them for shape memory, a number match, sorting letters into straight lines, curves lines and letters with both, plus a sensory sight word search!
